Dunkirk, the latest Christopher Nolan film, started its principal photography in France last week. The movie is based on the real events of Dunkirk evacuation during World War II. 76 years earlier right on the same current location Belgian, British, and French troops were surrounded by the German army during the “Battle of France”.

The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan himself and Hoyte Van Hoytema (Interstellar, Her) is the film’s director of photography. Dunkirk is being shot on IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format films which is Nolan’s favorite. Production will proceed in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Los Angeles. The film is planned to be released in July 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Like Interstellar, Hans Zimmer started to work on the film’s soundtrack way before production in January. Fionn Whitehead, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, and Cillian Murphy are already been cast for Dunkirk.
